Scholarship applications will open soon for 2024!
The following are required by the applicant to be considered for the scholarship:
- Applicant must be a current BSCAI professional member (building service contractor), or a family member of a BSCAI professional member. BSCAI membership is company based, meaning any individual employed by a BSCAI professional member company and their family members are qualified to apply.
- A complete application form including two uploaded letters of recommendation (click here for letter of recommendation resources).
- Enrolled in higher education (university, college, trade school, etc.) for fall 2024.
- A citizen or legal immigrant of the United States.
Online application and two reference letters submitted within the application must be received no later than July 19th, 2024.
Award
The BSCAI Stephen H. Swigart Scholarship for Higher Education provides building service contractors and their families an opportunity to pursue higher education. This scholarship promotes the welfare of the public as it relates to the contract cleaning and maintenance industry. Completing just a few semesters of college education can often lead to higher paying jobs and greater job opportunities. And yet, many people find college education courses are out of reach due to the cost of tuition and books.
Education is a core value at Spartan Chemical and something that is strongly promoted within the organization and extended network of partners. It was natural that Spartan would establish the Stephen H. Swigart Scholarship Program with the BSCAI since the company greatly believes in supporting young people and their pursuit of a higher education.
The BSCAI Stephen H. Swigart Scholarship for Higher Education will be awarded to one student each year who meets or exceeds standards set by the BSCAI committee. The maximum award paid for one school year per individual is $3,000. Scholarships are to be used during the immediately following semester and may only be used for tuition and books.
About Stephen H. Swigart
Throughout the years Steve has held a variety of positions, including one year with Spartan Chemical Company in Melbourne, Australia. Steve has held the positions of Distributor Relations Manager, Advertising Manager, Assistant Vice President/Sales, Corporate Vice President, Executive Vice President, President, and has held the position as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2000.
Steve has served in a variety of positions with the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA). ISSA is an industrial association which represents manufacturers and distributors in the sanitary supply industry, with a membership of 4600 companies. Steve served on the Exhibitor Committee from 1984-1985; as Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors from 1986-1988. He served on the ISSA Foundation Board from 1992-1998, as Vice Chairman and Chairman the last two years. In 1985, Steve received the ISSA’s President’s Award; in 1987 he received the ISSA’s Chairman’s Award for membership recruitment. In 2005, Steve was the recipient of the ISSA Industry Distinguished Service Award. He served on the ISSA Board of Directors as Vice President/President Elect in 2000, President in 2001, and as Past President and International Director in 2002.
From 1993-1995 Steve served on the Industrial Distribution Council for the National Paper Trade Association.
