4 Ways to Show Your Cleaners Appreciation This Thank Your Cleaner Day

As we all know, life can get busy. Between work, family commitments and the million other things we all have to juggle and balance, the days can feel like they are slipping by without much difference between them. But one thing building service contractors shouldn’t forget about this time of year is Thank Your Cleaner Day.

Taking place Oct. 18 this year, Thank Your Cleaner Day is a time to show appreciation and gratitude for cleaners who work diligently day in and day out (and often night in and night out) to ensure offices, stores and places of business are clean and comfortable. Here are a few ideas on how you can celebrate the day and your employees.

1. Get Coffee and Bagels

Who wouldn’t love a fresh bagel and hot cup of coffee to begin their day? Order in coffee and bagels (or your breakfast of choice) for all your cleaners. This will give them a positive start to their morning and a chance to connect with one another before beginning their work. For cleaners working night shift, swap out the breakfast food for a dinner option like pizza and soft drinks.

2. Host a Game Night

A post-work game night is always an enjoyable way to unwind after a hard day’s work while still instilling a sense of camaraderie. Invite everyone to bring in their favorite games and break out into groups for smaller gameplay or select a favorite like Jeopardy! for some friendly competition with the full team.

3. Hand Out Gift Cards

Show your gratitude with a small gift. Throughout Thank Your Cleaner Day celebrations, consider handing out gift cards to local food and beverage locations as well as favorite stores in the area.

4. Give Verbal, Written or Online Thanks

Thanking your cleaners in person is a great thing to do and it doesn’t have to stop there. Keep the thanks going by writing handwritten thank you notes and even shouting out individuals on social media and in company-wide communications.
