Building Service Management Program (BSMP) Package
The BSMP is a multi-volume training course designed for either self-teaching or for use in a classroom format with an instructor. All subjects are addressed in the specific context of the building service industry. Each volume contains all essential information and instructions along with periodic review questions. Specific learning objectives have been established for each chapter. An exam booklet is included with each volume and an answer key. The answers are also included in the trainer's manuals, which are sold separately.
NOTE: All volumes are essential for a thorough preparation for the Registered Building Services Manager (RBSM), the Certified Building Services Executive (CBSE) and the Certified Sanitary Supply Professional (CSSP).
CBSMP1 - Vol. 1 – Account Management:
Designed to help both new and experienced managers: Identify management responsibilities; Implement inventory management and cost controls; Manage time; Workload accounts; Conduct inspections; Improve service and profitability; Build positive customer relations; Establish effective building security procedures.
CBSMP2 - Vol. 2 – Hiring and Firing:
Learn to: Identify effective recruiting methods; List guidelines for preparing job descriptions; Identify effective methods of screening job applicants; List criteria for selecting the most qualified job applicants; Establish realistic performance standards and appraisal systems; Handle employee disciplining and terminating; and Identify measures to prevent discrimination or wrongful discharge claims throughout the employment process.
CBSMP3 - Vol. 3 – Motivation and Training:
Find out how to: Motivate people to work diligently; Develop employees to work independently while increasing work quality; Develop better and more open channels of communication; Develop and implement effective training programs; Reduce turnover and absenteeism.
CBSMP4 - Vol. 4 – Personnel Policies:
This volume will help companies comply with the law by: Discussing legal issues relevant to personnel policy manuals; Identifying federal discrimination laws and listing employment practices; Defining steps to minimize discrimination problems and avoid violating the law; Understanding how to respond to allegations of workplace harassment; Distinguishing between affirmative action and nondiscrimination; and Reviewing the major provisions of laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.
CBSMP5 - Vol. 5 – Safety and Security:
Subjects in this volume include: Identifying drug and alcohol abuse problems in the workplace; Listing elements that should be addressed by a substance abuse policy; Understanding OSHA regulations; Identifying the elements of a control plan for the prevention of exposure to bloodborne pathogens; Listing the elements of an Occupational Injury Management program; Recognizing common hazards in the building service industry; Understanding basic first-aid; Understanding the responsibilities of the company and its management under the National Labor Relations Act.
CBSMP6 - Vol. 6 – Floor Care, Carpet Care, & Cleaning Chemicals:
This volume will help you understand the three major components of typical carpet soils; How natural vs. synthetic fibers, faceweight, density, and backing affect carpet quality and durability; Three major levels of carpet maintenance and the procedures for each; The purpose of floor finishes and their compositions; Differences between non-resilient flooring and the proper maintenance procedures for each; Floor care problems and the likely causes and corrective actions; Factors that affect performance of cleaning substances; Major types of cleaning delivery systems and the strengths and weaknesses of each.
